Raising the Minimum Wage

Background of Project

Target Audience

Deliverable / Objective

Our team explore the history of minimum wage and its development over the years in the US, why it is still a big socio-economic topic with passionate movement, and what we discover to be patterns of issues and solutions.

We originally intended to present this paper to NY Conference of Mayors, but cancelled due to the pandemic. Instead, beside presenting to our peers, we presented this to the Cornell's Regional Planning department's weekly Colloquium (open to public).

For this research, we created a presentation to share our findings and we created a policy memo that aims to give practical insights on how cities can influence minimum wage in an environment with preemptive law.
